I created this hat for a 2016 hat competition where the theme was Australia. I was inspired by Aboriginal art and the god, Wandjina. This hat won the popular vote prize.
The tall halo design is covered in a knotted silk, and I added abstract leather shapes, more embroidery, and decorative stitching. The feathers along the top edge alternate with gold loops, and pompoms lay along the bottom edge.
